Governors
Making a positive contribution to our children’s education
The role of any governing body is fundamental to the effectiveness of the leadership and management of a school. As Governors at Eagle School, we provide strategic leadership and make decisions about the school resources and school structure. We are here to drive continual school improvement and ensure that Eagle School is embedded within the community for the success of all our futures.
Our key functions are to:
- set the aims and objectives for the school
- set the policies for achieving those aims and objectives
- set the targets for achieving those aims and objectives
- monitor and evaluate school progress towards achievement of its aims and objectives
- be a source of challenge and support to the headteacher as a critical friend
The Governing Body has two sub committees to ensure that it meets its statutory duties with regard to the finance and curriculum of the school. Both Committees report to the Full Governing Board.
1. Resources Committee
The Committee facilitates and enables support to ensure the effective operation and running of Eagle School from a finance, staffing and premises perspective.
2. Standards and Curriculum Committee
The Committee monitors and evaluates the standards and achievements of Eagle School and the quality of education the school provides.

If you ever want to discuss anything with any of the Governors, including the Chair of the Governing Body, Mrs Emma Tiffin, contact details can be requested from the school office on either [email protected] or 01522 868354. Details can also be found on the school notice board and of course many of us are often around at the beginning and end of each school day and are happy to talk at any time.

As a school we recognise that a diversity of thought, voices and perspectives is essential to good governance and the effective running of any organisation. We collect diversity information from our governors, however we are unable to publish this as it would mean that individual members of our governing body are identifiable.
The data helps us to:
- recruit to address gaps in experience and diversity
- prioritise awareness-raising in identified areas
- seek wider advice if applicable on any relevant opportunities, challenges and risks
