Mental Health & Wellbeing
At Eagle School, we are committed to supporting the emotional health and wellbeing of our pupils and staff to ensure that our school is a community where everyone feels able to thrive. We know that everyone experiences life challenges that can make us vulnerable and at times that anyone may need additional emotional support. We take the view that positive mental health is everybody’s business and that we all have a role to play.
We aim to promote the positive mental health and wellbeing of every member of our school community and recognise how important mental health and wellbeing is to our lives, as is physical health. We recognise that children’s mental health and overall wellbeing can affect their learning and achievement. Positive wellbeing is promoted through the curriculum and through school activities.
At Eagle School we:
- Help children to have a strong sense of self and their own identity.
- Help children to understand their emotions and feelings better and to be able to express a range of emotions appropriately and safely.
- Help children feel comfortable sharing any concerns or worries.
- Help children to develop emotional resilience to manage times of difficulty and to be able to deal with change and setbacks.
- Help children to be able to make and maintain positive relationships with others.
- Help children to have an awareness of other pupils’ feelings and how individuals’ actions/behaviours can have an impact on the wellbeing of others.
